This workshop concentrates on capturing the natural beauty of floras and other still life subjects in oil while working directly from life. The beauty and power of fresh undisturbed oil paint as well as the expressive and descriptive quality of the brushstroke is stressed. The instructor demonstrates and emphasizes the direct alla-prima approach to oil painting.  Schedule: 9am-4pm, daily.

Robert Johnson was born in Hopewell, Va. and has studied at the Art Students League of New York, where he is a life member. Johnson is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America and Allied Artists of America. He has exhibited his work in numerous one man shows as well as in national group shows. Brazier Fine Art showcased Robert Johnson's "Recent Works" in a one-man show in September 2008.  

Johnson is a nationally-recognized artist, with collectors hailing from all around the United States. Mr. Johnson teaches at the Scottsdale Artists School, has held a popular workshop at Brazier Studio, and conducts many other private workshops. Johnson's awards include first places prizes from The Artist Magazine National Competition, the Salmagundi Club and many others.  Johnson currently resides and paints in Vienna, Virginia.
